Pro-ISIS Muslim leader investigated for glorifying sharia

An Islamic State supporter is being investigated after uploading gruesome footage to social media of sheep being slaughtered.

Te Amorangi Kireka-Whaanga, who founded the so-called Islamic State of Aotearoa, posted the graphic video from a Napier abattoir in New Zealand.

Animal experts raised concerns one of the sheep may not have been properly stunned and been awake when its throat was cut, NZ Herald reported.

The graphic footage was posted online by Islamic State supporter Te Amorangi Kireka-Whaanga from a New Zealand slaughterhouse

The vision uploaded by Mr Kireka-Whaanga shows one man holding down a seemingly conscious sheep and cutting its throat.

The Ministry of Primary Industries and Mr Kireka-Whaanga’s, employer, Fresh Meat, have both launched investigations into the since-removed clip.

SAFE Veterinary Professor Andrew Knight said he was concerned about the sheep’s movement in the video.

‘I’m really disturbed about seeing the sheep actually move after their throats have been cut… The movement of the sheep raises doubt about whether these sheep are actually unconscious as they are supposed to be,’ Prof Knight said.

Prof Knight said animals must be stunned at a voltage that renders them unconscious but not killed in order to meet halal requirements.

If the stunning is at the wrong voltage, or the time between stunning and slaughtering is too short, the animal may stay awake.
