Sonny Williams in the 2017 top 500 most influential.

Sonny Williams appears amongst the Top 500 Most Influential Muslims, in the Celebrity and Sports category. Dr Anwar Ghani again appears as president of the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ) in the Administration of Religious Affairs category. Recognising New Zealand’s contributions to international terrorism, Dr Ghani represented New Zealand at the White House summit Countering Violent Extremism in 2015.

This list was published in September 2016 by The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre based in Jordan. Within this publication New Zealand is listed as having 42,430 Islamic citizens. Australia, with over half a million Muslims, have five in the Top 500.
