Teenager arrested over Queenstown Mosque posters

Police have arrested a man in connection with posters being placed around Queenstown, including at the Islamic Centre on Gorge Road.

An 18-year-old man has appeared in the Queenstown District Court today charged with possession of a knife.

Police said they expected to lay further charges.

Southern District Commander Superintendent Paul Basham said police realised that incidents such as the placing of the posters are upsetting for the community.

He thanked Queenstown residents for the information they have provided to police.
