Was Gamal Fouda was the Imam preaching to Tarrant before he shot the mosque up? It seemed that Fouda recognised Tarrant!
The Imam of Al Noor Mosque has been elected to a community board.
Imam Gamal Fouda received widespread praise for his response in the aftermath of the March 15 terror attack. Fifty-one people were killed and a further 49 injured when a gunman opened fire in the Al Noor and Linwood Mosques.
A week after the shootings he led a call to prayer in Hagley Park where thousands of people including Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern heard his message that “evil ideology” will never triumph over “love and unity.”
He will form part of the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board after receiving 1033 votes.
Mr Fouda will join Helen Broughton, Mark Peters, Mike Mora, Andrei Moore and Debbie Mora on the board alongside newly elected Riccarton ward councillor Catherine Chu, fourth term Hornby councillor Jimmy Chen and Halswell councillor Anne Galloway.
This man’s fame and fortune rest on a pack of lies. I don’t say that lightly. I was once a member of his congregation.
